Prayer Update 8

Surprise! We have another prayer update! It’s only been a week or two since the last one, but I’ve gotten a lot of new info since then. Let’s pray.

Doug Troyer is a new addition to the list. Doug has T2 colon cancer, and it is likely that the cancer has spread to his lymph nodes. (They can’t biopsy the nodes to be sure because of their location.) Doug has started a regimen of chemo therapy and radiation that will last for a month. Following this they will perform a surgery that will remove part of his colon and all of his rectum. He will then have 6 more months of chemo. Obviously Doug needs our prayers. Pray for peace for him and his family, joy overwhelming the fear, and pray for a miracle. (His wife also has been having eye troubles, so let’s pray for a miracle there as well.) He is going to get through this!

Terri has stopped eating. In case you don’t know, this normally means that a person is a few days away from dying. She has fought all along the way, and she has had many miracles to get her to this point. Let’s pray that she is overwhelmed by the peace and joy of the Holy Spirit, and that these days are incredibly bright for her and those around her. I do not want to discount the possibility of a miracle for her, and I fully believe it’s possible for her to be raised up to health again. However, normally at this time a person is ready to move on to their next journey. And if a person doesn’t want something else, something else won’t happen. If a miracle is to happen, let’s praise God for it. But if these are her last hours, let’s also pray that they are full of life.

On a much brighter note, Persephone is out of the hospital! As far as I know, this little girl has been in the hospital her entire life. That she is finally out is a cause for incredible celebration and praising God! Let’s keep praying for her, and keep her whole family lifted up. First of all, because they will have a major change happening to their previous “normal,” and second because I want them to see God’s hand moving (and that it has been moving) through this whole process.

We have another new addition to the list as well. However, just because she’s new to us doesn’t mean she’s new to cancer. Ashlee Jensen has been fighting an aggressive, rare form of stage three T-Cell Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma for two years, since she was 19 years old. She has been through six different chemo therapies, full-body radiation, and recently an autologous bone marrow transplant. They just recently learned that her transplant was a failure, and so now she is undergoing a new chemo which was just FDA-approved that requires five solid days of chemo every 21 days. They are looking for a 10-out-of-10 matching donor for an allogeneic bone marrow transplant, and once they find that she will have to move from Spokane to Seattle for the treatment. In short, this young lady needs a MIRACLE! Let’s pray accordingly! (Author’s Aside: if you’d like to learn more about Ashlee, you can check out her Facebook page or her gofundme page. She will definitely need finances to move forward with this procedure, assuming she isn’t healed first.)

Now, a quick thought. You might have noticed that I ask you to pray for peace and joy for people an awful lot. I was just talking with a dear friend about this today, so thought I’d mention it here. I always ask for you to pray that the peace and joy of the Holy Spirit would overwhelm people because I have seen the greatest miracles happen when I’ve prayed this, both for myself and for others. There’s something about praying for peace and joy for people that opens doors. Maybe because it eliminates the fear and striving that we feel when we’re in a difficult situation, or when others are praying for us to receive a miracle and we’re trying to make it happen. I don’t know exactly, but I do know that often when I pray for a miracle nothing happens (even when I get really down, dirty, nitty and gritty,) but when I pray for peace and joy everything happens. So that’s my reasoning. =)

Be sure to head over to the prayer list to see everyone else that needs prayer. I will often have the prayer list open when I’m praying for people, just to make sure I don’t miss anyone. And, I am happy to announce that the new version is almost done! I’m hoping tonight or tomorrow to have it fully up and operational.

Thanks for all you do, and for keeping these dear people lifted up before God. Your prayers make a difference.
